Most exceptional ending.....Two factors helped : Nearby river, and the 100 plus herd of buffalo. That was a eally lucky escape from the two crocs....Can't believe it....

I wondered much later on in the evening, how the large alpha male buffalo communicated to the rest of the herd that the calf was in trouble? It must have been done very quickly for them to save it, and I did wonder whether the poor little thing wasn't badly injured even though they got it back...croc teeth are very sharp as are lion's teeth and claws...if it survived its injuries, it will grow up to be one tough little cookie...LOL...GBHs...XXX

One can only guess at these...I suspect animal life (all life) is ultimately driove by 'Instinct'...As for Crocs - their teeth may be sharp but they kill their prey through drowning...then 'rip'/'tear' bits from it....I suppose you know all this. The lions might not have had a hold on the 'throat......One can never know....GBHsxx

they looked to me like young lions...probably inexperienced at killing...put up an amazing struggle to hold onto their catch though...Don't more people get killed by buffalo than any other animal? Think I read that somewhere...very dangerous animals...GBHs...XXX

They were clearly a well organised pack headed by a fully gown Alpha Male...who was one of h last to leave the scene; buffalo are very dangerous...
Don't need much provocation to charge indiscriminately..xx-

What wonderful footage!! Never seen anything like that before! I do hope the buffalo calf recovered OK from his injuries

Quite exceptional! None of the rangers could recall seeing something similar.....Looks like the calf had two factors in its favour - River nearby; 100 plus herd of buffalo...and one could say....tug-o-war between crocs and lions....Quite spectacular...

I thought they were going to tear it in half at that point!! POOR little thing. A quick kill is one thing, but to be used as a tug of war between such ferocious animals!!!
