  • G'night with My Music!

    **

It's been a good day, despite having a couple of assignations with friends, chiefly out to Lunch with a retired couple - took 'to old lady along, then took her home and we got back home around 5!
Rewarding day...that sumptuous lunch was delicious...lamb and mince sauce with Roasties, regulatory veggies....Dessert....TWO delicious puds...:)) Then Coffee....Sufficiently fed for the whole week - you reckon?;)
Time for me to withdraw now....I hope you will all have had a good week-end, well rested in readiness for the week ahead......I mean, those who have to foot-slog to labour for their 'keep'.....;)
To help you to a peaceful end to your week-end....here's a piece of delicate piano music from Franz Liszt....called Consolation! Have a Good Night!

  • Privet!

    Good Morning
    **
That's Russian - in case you didn't know! Privet....Hello! Not quite noon here yet!
Lord Winter is busy unpacking his 'goodies'; not too cold...but quite windy...driving train at times, only intermittently! Still agreeable...I'm certainly not for grumbling, although I would prefer to stay indoors, for the simple reason that I am not frightfully keen on 'rain' because I wear spectacles! Yes! One does need 'wipers' on spectacles! Any suggestions for an invention?
Hope your week-end is going well, despite any 'untoward' aspects of the weather; after all, we are into late autumn....or is it Winter?
Keep warm and enjoy your day...whatever you're doing!

Those who walk with their noses and heads 'in the air', take care; you could be walking into a wall...or fall into a ditch!

  • A Little Night Music! Ciao !

    **
Slow, steady Saturday....dullish weather did not inspire outdoor sorties....but we still ventured out for a custumary walk. Otherwise, chores sorted and errands run...we pottered around; always plenty to potter - a remarkably relaxing and meditative 'past-time'; if you haven't done it yet......you want to try it...;)
Want to leave you with another 'absolute favourite piece of music' - this time, because it will always remind me of our son who dared to play this piece when he was at Sixth Form College and drew wonderful acccolades from professional musicians among the parents that night....He spends as much time with his piano as family life and work allow.
Hopefully you will enjoy it, as well! The second movement - Adagio - of Beethoven's Fifth Piano Concerto...'The Emperor'....
Take Care! Have a good night....

  • Scott Joplin!!

An absolute favourite of mine! Is there another who can match the mould of the inimitable Scott Joplin? I recall vividly watching, with my teenaged son, a film about Joplin's life many years ago....Never forgotten it....
For your Saturday evening entertainment have a listen to this....NO! Not the 'Entertainer' - something very different....an unusual rendering of Bathena (Concert Waltz)....

  • Hoi!

    Good Morning
    **
Informal Dutch for saying..."Hi!" -- "Hoi!". I expect a blogbuddy to confirm or correct this! Sounds peculiarly like our own..."Oi"...Does it?
Started out bright and sunny here....little cloudier now with our ubiquitous light sea breeze - temp...nicely around the 13C. Quite agreeable...
Hopefully you will all have some agreeable weather this week-end....time to relax and refresh; don't overlook the need for reflection...
The appended thought today...may appear to conflict with that posted on the other 'side' - deliberately chosen for that apparent contradiction......Balance is the key! Have a good day!

  • A Little Night Music! Hasta La Vista

    **

Friday night...as though you didn't know! Another full and rewarding day...despite the weather being a little dull - threatening rain which did not materialise. It remained agrreably mild....for this time of year.
I hope you will all have had a satisfying - if not perfect - week! May you have a very good week-end full of many pleasant surprises. Enjoy the rest of your evening...and have a good night. (For those of you on the point of waking.....enjoy what lies ahead for you)
Having previosuly mentioned my love of baroque music, here is a universal favourite - known mostly as the 'Menuetto' of Boccherini's Quintet for 5 strings. Hope you enjoy it.....may even allow it to lull you into relaxing contentment.
    Take Care!

  • grüezi!

    Good Morning
    **
Swiss friends will recognise that....Grúezi! Another form of greeting I love very much! You could use it as well.....Pronounced..'grew-tsy'....I stand under correction of my Swiss friends!
Hopefully your day has dawned for you with not too much 'stress' from the Weather gods; some parts of the country could well be on alert for flooding.....Hopefully, not too bad for ALL! Rained here overnight....still threatening out there....drizzling intermittently; very light breeze and the temp is a steady 14C...We can't really grumble...can we? Not after the lovely long Autumn....
Quite a few errands to run today...later; wnted to do a few jobs around the home too. They will be done.....for sure!
Wherever you are...whatever you are...or will be doing...enjoy it...OR, at least try to enjoy it...even if you have to pretend to be enjoying it!
    Take Care!!!

    **

The day has gone well....shopping for't old lady; necessary chores and errands duly executed; time spent here...and, plenty time for other pursuits. Actualy the day has sped by so quickly.
The evening has simply disappeared...:)) Time to exit with grace to leave myself more time to 'play with words' - see what happens.
Hope you all had a good day....alert enough to catch many of the surprises the day held in store for you....Oh! Yes! There Were! ;) Hope you enjoy the rest of the evening...Have A Good Night....
Tonight I shall leave you with some Elgar....Enigma Variations.....Theme and number 1! Hope you enjoy it.....Take Care!:)

  • Hi! Ringing The Changes!

    Good Morning
    **
Shopping Day for 't old lady; from sunny, slightly breezy, Engliah Costa del Sol you are greeted with a slight difference this morning.....Could have called this..."Making a Difference".....Just got this from my niece......Have a Good Day! :):):)

It is a myth that when a son gets married and a new daughter-in-law arrives in the family, everything changes.
Some daughters-in-law are well trained and well mannered....They don't come to change the family, they are here to... ( READ ON!)

    The new wife was being welcomed at the husband's home in a traditional manner. As expected she gave a speech;
'My dear family, I thank you for welcoming me in my new home and family, firstly, my being here does not mean that I would want to change your way of life, your routine .'No, I will never do that, never in a million years.'

'What do you mean my child?' asked the father-in-law.
    'What I mean dad is (looking at her in-laws);

Those who used to wash the dishes must carry on washing them.
Those who used to do the laundry must carry on doing it.
Those who cooked should not stop at my account, AND
Those who used to clean should continue cleaning!!!

'And what are you here for?' enquired the mother-in-law.

'AS FOR ME, I'M HERE JUST TO ENTERTAIN YOUR SON!!!!!'

  • A Little Night Music! À demain!

    **
As you might have expected, it's been a day of 'to-ing and fro-ing' in the process of doing the school run today. It has not been too bad at all! Our little granddaughter's Nursery is a 'Dream' - set in the woods with plenty of room to roam - under supervision of course; it's not too wild....just a fairly wooded area in West Sussex/Surrey....First time 'Wife' has seen it and she was most impressed, herself a retired Infant School Teacher....
Anyhow...we had great fun 'taking and fetching'.
Had opportunity to catch up with 'matters blog' and will now exit from here to do some 'committing to words'.....Hope you have a Restful Night when time comes for it... To ease you into 'A Good Night' I leave you with this delightful piece of Messian.....from his Opera, Thais: You will probably know it....called Meditation! Sleep Well!

Just got back in from doing the school run for grandchildren......Have to fetch them back from school...and the Nursery this afternoon...which means leaving home....ours...not later than...2.15pm....Quite busy...hectic, BUT, pleasurable for the joy we get from seeing their faces when they 'see' us.
Will catch up with you all, later....This to wish you all a delightful day regardless of weather - not too bad here; no sunshine, though, maybe later.
    Take Care!

Had another good and rewarding day - weather held; went for nice walk along the beach; fruitful wander; only downside is that I wanted to do some E-mails - caught out by time; will have to catch up soon.....Off early in the morning to do the 'School Run' for grandchildren...20 miles away...:)) Taking my leave soon.....Hope you had a good day and hope you have a good night....
I leave you with some Oscar Peterson to ease out your day....You know the tune? Take Care!

    Good Morning

Lovely day down here on the Coast! Sunny with just a few feathery clouds; temp hovering around 12C - a little sharper in the light sea breeze..very agreeable inviting all and sundry to 'take the air', which I shall do presently.
Hopefully your day approximates close to ours here...perhaps even better! Let's engage the challenges and promises inherent in each day!
There will be those who are not feeling up to scratch, may your circumstances soon see much improvement...It is worth remembering....All Shall Be Well.....
Have just been out in the garden looking at our azalea and camelea in flower; will post a piccie of them later...SO unusual!

I'm sure there must be a blogger across the North Sea who will spot the 'Bye' style tonight! Let's see! Been quite a steady day after an early busy run-around. Settled down nicely - even managed to do a little studying....a new little project - learning the 'know-how' of HTML! Don't laugh! I'm only learning! I'm still very cautious about using Computer speak! Even though my son tries to tell me that I should find it easy!
Am I making any sense here:))
I'l get there in the end.....
BTW...I have learnt how to nick things...thanks to some hints from fellow bloggers -- legally, that is! ;)
Enough of that for now! Still have to do some serious 'penning of thoughts' before my day is done! I hope your day has been fruitful....Look back and SMILE!
Hope you have a very good night....wherever you are.....Be Mindful!

    Good Morning
    **
Late in today; been going since much earlier - had to get to Printers' and ran some errands while I was out. Decided to answer e-mails and posts.....now for my little daily pleasure of doing a 'post' - myself!
Today's greeting is in a peculiar South Africa version of 'howzit' - a way of saying, 'Hello. how is it'....:))
Nothing much new to offer; the weather has settled, even though the 'strongish' south-westerley breeze has been whipping up the sea....it is also high tide; delightful spray all along the seaside road as I traveled back home The road runs almost parallel with the sea for a long way; never more that fifty yards from the the sea, often as close as 20 yds, which gives one a wonderful view of the breaking waves at high tide driven by the 'Soutwesterlies'.
I hope you all have a rewarding day, replete wih challenges and promises......

    **
Delightful day with the family - son, his wife and the three children! Great fun! For Lunch and the best part of the afternoon. Quite warm and most agreeable climes. VERY relaxing!
Still have a 'bit' to do 'proof-reading' - want to hand it in to Printers on the morrow - so will be bidding you all a fond farewell fairly soon!
Hopefully you will all have had a satisfying Sunday......in fact all week-end...ready for the 'fray' on the morrow.
Enjoy the rest of your evening....'The Night is still young.......'! Take Care! Be Mindful!

    Good Morning
    **
"hutch-e-lul-lul-o (hello)" - That's Double Dutch, whatever that may be! Any enlightenment?;) I was meant to go and watch grandson play rugby this morning....well, about now, but considering what happened two weeks ago, the tournament has been 'called off' - weather not looking too good for the youngsters. No rain or inclement conditions here...BUT threatening!
We shall be setting off soon to have Sunday Lunch with them; they live about 20 miles north of us - in case you've forgotten. We shall thus see them...especially our little 'gem' - granddaughter.
Incidentally, the other granddaughter (eldest grandhild - 15) flew out of Stuttgart this morning bound for Spain (I think - maybe Portugal) on a ten day School Excursion. My! Aren't they lucky these days....Anyhow, she works very hard at school - doing quite well!
Back to the present! May you have a very good day! Will catch up with you later! To be sure!

    **
That's Greek, I'm told.....for saying 'Cheerio' or 'Bye'..... Yasou! Early exit tonight! Little way to go for me in other matters...Been a good day; most rewarding. Managed to do quite a bit of E-mailing friends...as well, which brought a reponse from one which I posted, about the Elephant Birth! What fascinated me more than anything else in that clip was the minutes after the calf was born - quite amazing! Animal behaviour:yes:
Anyway, hope you all had a good day, despite the 'inclement weather'. All calmed down here now! May you have a delightful rest of the evening....and do have a good night! Be Mindful!

The inclement climes have not reached us down here on the English Costa del Sol - not yet!;) Dull and somewhat windy start to the day; clouds have now cleared letting through bright sunshine; however, there is a feeling that conditions may well change...We shall see! Whatever the weather, may we accept and adjust accordingly for that is the Nature of Life!
Major task for me today.....Slow scrutiny! Oddly enough, I find intense reading sparking 'The Muse' as though she quite likes my reading with such great care!:))

Especially those who have been 'slaving away' for a living.....Week-end beckons; hopefully you have the next two days 'off' compulsory labour, so that I can say.....Have a Great Week-end!
Have a few very important chores today, not least to get a 'proof copy' from the Printers! Then very careful scrutiny, on my part! That should be fun! I hope to enjoy the exercise!

Good rewarding day! Many new things learnt again...even managed to surprise a few blogbuddies with my growing 'handiness' - still a long way to go, though. 't old lady's shopping went well, even though I left it to 'Herself' to look after 't old lady today; they were 'Christmas Shopping...that's why. I willingly ran the other errands.
Also managed to do some 'writing' this afternoon...got some thoughts/ideas committed to words; will probably revisit soon...maybe later...for a perusal. That is the problem with 'concise, pithy verse'....one has to get it...'just right'! Not that it ever is 'right':))
Will leave you all to your several 'devices', hoping that you will enjoy whatever you are doing and, when the time comes for you to retire to your bed - whenever that may be - may you find sleep coming readily to give you refreshing rest. Be Mindful!

Delightful day here......Very Autumn-like - to the point of being mild. Winter may be having a 'lie-in'...:))

We watched a fascinating Nature programme couple nights ago; some of you might have watched it - LIFE...featuring this week....Birds! I was most impressed by the courtship dances and prances of some birds - mystical almost! You can catch it HERE The whole programme is an hour long...but worth watching.

    good night
    **
Started gorgeous this morning.....the day has gone very well; weather held all day until we got back down to the south coast when we encountered an unforseen squall of rain. Felt rather odd, and seemed to put a 'damper' on Fireworks Displays.....;)
Still, it was a lovely day....Took our leave of SIL and her daughter, both of whom fly out over the next couple of days. Good to see them. Superb Meal served..... Time now to exit and prepare for relaxing before bed...The M25/M23 always take the 'stuffing' out of me; don't much like traveling after sunset anymore....
Pleasant and rewarding day for us....Hope you had something to 'shout about in glee' today - whatever it might have been....
Enjoy thye rest of your evening...and....May you have a good night's sleep! Be Mindful!

  • Gorgeous Day To You!

    Good Morning
    **
One could hardly tell whether it was 'Early Spring' or 'Late Autumn' this morning! Going by what one felt one can be forgiven for being confused.... A truly 'Early Spring' "Late Autumn" morning.;)
Hopefull you will all be having this wonderfully invigorating experience under clear blue skies with a warming sun!
We're off to South London soon - take our farewell from SIL who flies home on Monday. Time to see the other niece who flew in from another part of the world to see her sister..and the new baby. Going in time for 'Lunch' which will enable us to get back on the M25/M23 before daylight recedes....
May you all have a Delightful Saturday......will be catching up when I get back late afternoon! Take Care!

    A beautiful day in so many ways! Mixed Weather - all the elements in, almost, equal measure;
pleasant, rewarding interchange with many of my blogbuddies; more valuable learning experiences in blog operations - helpful hints from buddies; committal of thoughts to the written word...always so satisfying...all in all a quiet, pleasing day.
The two of us here, at home, spend much of our days never far away from each other - even when 'Herself' is off on her regular walks - she usually goes on her own, because she prefers quick, brisk walks...wheras I prefer to walk much more leasurely. :))
Time for exit! I hope you will have experienced some pleasure during the past day - pereferably, much! There are 'gems' in everyone's daily life, to be sure! Note them!
May you have a restful night....when time for bed comes! If sleep is elusive...may you have a calm, quiet night! Be Mindful!

  • Arrested For Laughing!

    DSC00280
    **

This is said to come from an Actual trial in the UK - Does it matter if it did not?

A young woman, several months pregnant, boarded a bus.

She noticed a young man smiling at her and she began feeling humiliated on
account of her condition. She changed her seat and he seemed more amused.

She moved again and then on her third move he burst out laughing....
    ......... ....She had him arrested.

When the case came before the court, the young man was asked why he acted in
    such a manner.

His reply was: "When the lady boarded the bus I couldn't help noticing she
was pregnant. She first sat under an advertisement, which read: 'Coming
    Soon: The Gold Dust Twins'.

I was even more amused when she changed her seat and went to sit under a
    shaving advertisement, which read:
    'William's Stick Did The Trick'.

Then I could not control myself any longer when on the third move she sat
    under an advertisement, which read:
'Dunlop Rubber would have prevented this accident.' "

    The case was dismissed...!!!

  • One Year On!

    Going On.....
    **
It's exactly a year ago today, that I alighted in BCUK! I had previously floundered in 'Blogspot' for three months and found life there rather impersonal, distant and totally alien. Entering such an alien world as a total 'idiot' in matters relating to cumputer technology – certainly as far as its usuage is concerned – was dislocating; there were few reference points within the vast blogspot community.
A willy-nilly search for bloggers led me to blog.co.uk and after a cursory examination of the site, I signed up and immediately found the process easier, user friendly and most helpful. I soon got into it; in next to no time, I had managed to create my three separate blogs.
I cannot remember the first one I invited as a friend...but I DO remember the first to make a comment on any of my posts....The Walrus. He must have been one of the first...if not The First.. Most of the very first ones are still with me...Thanks......
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and hope to spend many more years sharing in the life of the Community....which is the first reason I would cite for being here: The Blog Community. It is so diverse, complex, interesting, stimulating, informative, jocular, invigorating, intellectually taxing...and profoundly enjoyable. Let me hasten to say...to keep the balance.. - that's me -, there are not just a few in this vast community who can be quite irritating, if not downright exasperating, but that makes for a more wholesome community. Good to be here!
I have learnt a lot since arriving here; had the dormant Muse of Verse awakaned, enjoyed intellectual stimulation and honed my philosophy of Life! Much of what I apprehend and learn in this life emanates from inferences and conclusions.....which I am wont to draw from careful observation and perceptions. The honesty and openness of blogbuddies and other bloggers have helped immensely.
For ALL your warmth, friendship, kindness, generosity and whatever...My Heartfelt Thanks!
    Love You Folks! :):):):)

That's goodnight in the Basque country!
Very fruitful and profitable Day! Success at last with posting a picture with following link! See! An achievement for me...with MUCH patient help and encouragement from two delightful blogbuddies...
Rewarding shopping errand with 't old lady; satisfying preparation of special post for tomorrow and able to scribble down some thoughts awaiting formal committal to writing after my exiting here....
Dare I ask if you - the reader - looked at your day to find the many 'rewards you enjoyed'?
Time to sign out now....Hoping that you will all have some good rest tonight...especially wishing those of you who find 'Sleep' elusive a restorative night with a surprise period of sleep! All of you...Take Care! Be Mindful!

"Who was that darling?" asked his wife, innocently.
"I don't know, some twerp asking if the coast was clear. Bloody pest, that's the fourth time tonight."

Gorgeous Day here! A quick visit before we set off on our usual Shopping Trip with 't old lady! Have to let you all know how good the day is....not without that reminder that 'wintryness' is very much in evidence.
May the Day be kind and generous to you...even to the point of spoiling you. Make the best use of the day and all it brings...promise as well as challenge.

  • Bur boi!

    good night
    **
My days are going so quickly... I know, it only appears to be doing that - indicative of the day being full and mostly rewarding...certainly for me.
We even had a few showers of rain this afternoon which brought a touch of 'wintryness' to our climes....I was sitting at the window, writing at the time and just about noticed how dark the sky had become before the heavy shower...then when I looked up again....all gone! :))
Errands run; chores completed....even had another 'Go' at sorting out that 'icon/link' escapade. When the 'penny drops' or the 'click lands in the right place' it will be well done! ;)
Time to say....'Bur boi'...what you might hear in North Eastern Russia....spoken by the Komi people.....Nice one to take you off to sleep.....Have a restful night...when it comes round for you. Be Mindful!

A woman calls her lawyer and asks...

'With all the lawsuits going on, I want to get in on some of that

Lawyer: 'And which one of those categories do you fit under?'

Woman: 'Neither. I just want to know if I can sue Odd Bin Wines for all
the ugly men I've slept with?

Kam'yuli! Our Californian bloggers should recognise this one! A language spoken by a much reduced 'people' in southern California..... You don't know? The Paipai! Look it up! Interesting.....still folks around saying that! So! Kam'yuli! May your day be kind and generous to you, whatever adverse circumstances may drift your way.
Gorgeous conditions here...even if the temperature reminds us that we are graduating into Winter.....around 10C outside, though warming especially in the bright sun.
Errands to run; thoughts to commit to writing... a few chores to execute - must earn my 'supper':))
    Have a delightful day...whatever you're doing....

  • Hooroo!

    Bye!
    **
While trying to find unusual ways in which the great diversity of peoples in our World say..goodbye...I was really astonished at the variables in the English way of saying so; does not even resemble 'good bye'.
As an example, take tonight's one.....Hooroo! Who can honestly say they recognise this form of saying 'Ciao'? Not an alien tongue; it is a form heard where English is the main language. I wonder whether Clive James may know --- though, I have a vague memory of hearing Rolf Harris using the word once...May be wrong....but I think Rolf did use it!
 The form is heard down under.......
Time for me to say....Hooroo Mate!
Had a good day.....though not as successful as I would have liked it to be; still struggling to get something posted as a widget...that links me to a Website....Getting a very helpful hand from a kind blogbuddy....However....there is something that is getting lost 'in translation or communication...' :)):)) Will try again on the morrow....
May you have a truly restful and restorative night....preferably through very sound sleep; if Orpheus fails to turn up....may positive thoughts and a calm spirit bring you whatever rest you need......Take Care! Be Mindful!

Gorgeous day here....sun is shining....skies are clear...few clouds drifting by...the breeze beckons for a 'Walk'...All-in-All, no reason not to feel good about being 'alive@ - always is, actually!:))
Quiet around here this morning...back to the norm in these parts. Usual chores of clearing up do not take that long these days.....We have downsized in every respect....including minimising the need for extensive cleaning operations...:))
Have to run a few errands...spend a little more time trying to post an icon with link.. - probably put it wrongly; gave up last night...battle will recommence later....;)
Go On! Enjoy your day...regardless of anything contrary....

We need to catch up on some sleep....:)) Amazing how much is taken out of us!
Been 'fiddling with my blog' with the generous - very patient - help of a blogbuddy! Still not got it done! I'll get there...I'm sure! .:))

  • My Music!

This may become an occasional feature; a different medium, than words, might well communicate something different about me! The artist may not always be shared because part of the pleasure of listening to music lies in recognising the piece and/or the artist. Some blogbuddies might well recongise the artist in this first choice. Hope you enjoy it!

  • Hi There!

    Good Morning
    **
One could not wish for two mornings so diametrically opposite as yesterday...and today! In every respect....weatherwise, that is! Otherwise, as well! The consummate result is a 'Glorious Morning', on all fronts....including having grandchildren here....until I take them home this afternoon...The boys' last half-term holiday - back to school tomorrow; as will our little gem of a granddaughter...back to Nursery.
Wish we had such glorious weather for the Rugby Tournament yesterday....Still! That is all in the Nature of The Game....
Hopefully, people elsewhere in the country will see some respite from the severe 'weather turn-around' yesterday......after all...we are on the edges of two seasons - so, let's take it as it comes....nay we be spared inconvenience and tragedy....
Enjoy your day...wherever you are...whatever you may be doing....All Shall Be Well!! ;)

    Bye!
    **
What a Day! First of November...and, as though to give us all a quick reminder...the heavens opened this morning...as I gather from posts which I have browsed this last hour...almost right across the country. Bizarrely, the deluge abated and finall ceased after Midday...restoring the 'status quo'! What to make of it?
Got soaked on the rugby field trying to watch grandson play....that was, after driving through great pools of water on the main road there...Still! It was great fun! Hope you all managed to get some fun out of the 'rain, wind, dullness....and whatever happened afterwards.
I managed to browse virtually all posts...very tempted to comment...but had to resist, mostly, else would I be neglecting the family...by whose leave I am here for a quick visit! Sorry for not commenting on all the posts...did manage a few....will be back to normal tomorrow...
Hope you enjoy the rest of your evening...and end up having a good rest before you start another week...in the morning...Take Care! Be Mindful!

  • How Do!

    Hi There!!!
    **
Early this morning; have to post this before I set off for son's place. We are watching grandson (aged 11) playing in a 'Rugby Union Local Tournament' later. Taking after granddad:)) So! With the weather still very much in flux....and it being the First Day of November, I shall wish you all a Very Pleasant Day! I shall probably pop in here later - albeit briefly!
The family are coming to us here on the coast for Sunday Lunch...after the Rugby; they stay over for the night, because we shall 'mind the boys' who are still on half-term, while Dad, Mum and Little Sis...go off....Sis to Nursery and the elders to their 'jobs'.
    Until later.....see you when I see you...BUT I shall.....
    Take Care!
